The SCUTS came from behind to tie with UC Santa Cruz, 29-29. The Banana Slugs struck first, scoring two consecutive trys in the first 10 minutes of the game. Despite the early lead, the SCUTS would not leave those trys unaswered, with senior forward Anthony Pastore coverting a penalty kick and senior forward Anders Loven-Holt scoring a try to put the SCUTS within reach at halftime, 10-14.
In the second half, UCSC added a penalty kick to increase their lead, but senior back Michael Cassolato was able to break free to score another try for the SCUTS. UCSC responded with two more trys to increase their lead to 14 points, but freshman wing Nick Johnson and sophomore center Alan Lee each scored a try to close the gap, with Pastore kicking for points. Final score for the game was a tie, 29-29.
The SCUTS B-side defeated UCSC B-side 54-0.
