San Jose State
The SCUTS defeated local rival San Jose State 20-15 to earn their third league game of the season.
Junior flyhalf Michael Dessel started the game off right for the SCUTS, scoring the first try of the game in the first five minutes. San Jose State responded with a try of their own to tie the score at 5-5, but then committed a penalty that gave senior forward Anthony Pastore the opportunity to make a penalty kick down the middle of the goal posts and put the SCUTS up 8-5. The SCUTS ended the first half with a thrilling try by senior hooker Anders Loven-Holt, who put the ball down in the try zone after blocking a kick from San Jose State. Pastore kicked for points to put the SCUTS in the lead at halftime, 15-5.
In the second half, senior scrumhalf JP Goethals passed the ball off to Dessel to score another try for the SCUTS. San Jose State broke through the SCUTS defense to score two additional trys and close the gap, but the SCUTS were able to hold onto the ball in the final minutes to earn the win. Final score was SCUTS, 20-15.
