PCRFU Playoffs vs. Snow College
Junior fullback Michael Dessel and senior lock Anthony Pastore start the game off right earning SCUTS a 7-0 lead. A try by Snow College is scored, though SCUTS still leads by 2. Junior center Tony Driver scores furthering the SCUTS lead. A quick score by Dessel and a kick by Pastore put the score at 19-5 at halftime.
The second half was a hard fought battle. Senior forward John Bruno scored followed with a great kick by Pastore. Unfortunately for the SCUTS, Snow College caught several breaks to score four unanswered trys to overtake the SCUTS 31-26. However, in a thrilling last-minute play, junior forward Geoff Hutchinson scored an amazing try on the sideline to tie the game to head into overtime.
SCUTS proved their toughness in overtime against Snow College. Sophomore center Daniel Iritani scored a penalty kick that was quickly followed with an incredible try by freshman Nick Johnson. SCUTS took an 8-point lead. Snow College scored a try and kick bringing the battle to a 1 point game. SCUTS held the Snow College team at the goal line with an intense and epic finish to the game to earn an automatic bid to the Sweet Sixteen USA Rugby tournament. Final score was 39-38.
