@ Humboldt
In their first game of the regular season, the SCUTS defeated Humboldt State 14-7. The SCUTS came out strong in the first half with a solid attack plan that allowed sophomore Teddy Mefford to break through the middle to score the first try of the game. Mefford also kicked for points, putting the SCUTS up 7-0. With only a few minutes remaining in the first half, Humboldt responded with a try and a kick for points to even the score at 7-7.
In the second half, the SCUTS continued to take advantage of the holes in the Humboldt defense and help junior center Tony Driver score another try for the SCUTS. Mefford kicked for points to give the SCUTS the lead, 14-7. Despite several efforts by Humboldt to turn the game around in their favor, the SCUTS defense held on strong to give the SCUTS their first win of the season.
Next up the A-side and B-side teams will be traveling to Sierra College on January 30th. Check here for updates.
