at UC Santa Cruz
In their final match of the regular season, the SCUTS ended the season on a high note
with a shutout victory over the UCSC Slugs at Santa Cruz 51-0. Despite heavy wind conditions, the SCUTS played well and executed their pattern effectively.
Senior center Scott Peterson was the first to get a great run in for the try, his first of two for the day. Soon after Senior flyhalf Scott Naylor added his own try to the scoreboard. Sophomore Michael Chacon-Teran scored two trys during the game, his first this season. Senior Eight-man Gregory Ginotti was able to set one down just in the line of the try zone after a tremendous forward pack drive down the field. Junior wing Patrick Haggerty and Senior fullback Mitch Ryan were both able to outrun the Slug defense to each score a try of his own in the second half. In addition, Ryan was able to convert four kicks and a penalty to make the final score 51-0 SCUTS win. With this win, the SCUTS officially secured the Division II NorCal league with an undefeated season of 7-0.
