Dear SCUTS Supporters and Alumni,
The Santa Clara Men’s Rugby team is pleased to build on the tremendous success of last year by announcing the Second Annual Father Coz Rugby Banquet, hosted in honor of the remarkable contributions of our beloved Father Coz  This night will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 6:30 pm at Santa Clara University’s Adobe Lodge.

All the recent alumni are extremely proud of the success that Santa Clara has seen over recent years. We have set a collective goal to resurface as a prominent force in collegiate rugby, a goal towards which we continue to take concrete steps.  The SCUTS just came off of a season that saw victories over some of the strongest Division II teams around, including UC Santa Cruz, Diablo Gaels and Santa Rosa, along with a complete thrashing of ACC competitors Duke at the San Diego Invitational.

We are excited to announce that this year’s event will be held on Santa Clara’s campus (500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95053) at the Adobe Lodge. The success of last year’s event, as well as the respect that SCUTS Rugby has garnered on campus, strengthened our relations with the university to make this evening possible.  The Father Coz Rugby Banquet will honor the tremendous contributions that Father Coz has made to the Santa Clara rugby program with cocktails, dinner, a raffle and a live auction to help raise funds to send the SCUTS on tour. This year’s event has been strategically planned to coincide with the weekend of Santa Clara’s Grand Reunion celebrations.  This allows us to turn the banquet into a full weekend as we host the annual alumni rugby match, The Father Coz Cup, the following afternoon on Saturday, October 17th at 1:00 pm. In addition we would be privileged to have you join us on Friday, October 16 at 6:30 pm as we continue a tradition of reuniting old friends. If you are unable to attend the banquet, please join us the following afternoon as we show these children how real men play rugby in our annual alumni game, the Father Coz Cup. Thank your very much for your continued support and generosity.
